❚❚❚❚❚ IC.■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: When it comes to strangers, Sharon isn't a big fan of contact she doesn't initiate herself (which isn't a thing that's likely to happen). The closer she gets with a person, the more likely she is to become physically affectionate. A sufficient amount of distress can force her to seek physical comfort in an acquaintance, especially if they've shown concern for her. ▸ Misc Bullshit She has existed as three separate entities all at once. The first time she split herself was after being burned alive, the trauma of the event igniting a rage and hate that took physical form. The second time resulted in Sharon, created specifically for whatever good Alessa thought she had could live outside of the pain and fear of Silent Hill. Whole, Sharon could likely do this again, but that seems incredibly unlikely regardless of what she encounters. She can also supposedly give birth to a god. So. That's cool. |

1. What do they care deeply about? What kind of loyalties, commitments, moral codes, life philosophies, passions, callings, or spirituality and faith do they have? How do these tend to be expressed? Sharon truly cares about only a few things but those things she does care about mean everything, namely: family (adopted or otherwise) and personal freedom (and family trumps that). The rest of the world will always be secondary to those things. When it comes to something like a moral code, Sharon’s surprisingly sympathetic and often goes out of her way to help those in danger, even saving those who have wronged her. However, she can be vengeful and holds a grudge, and, depending upon the crime, that grudge can last a lifetime.
The only faith or spirituality Sharon possesses is faith in herself, in her father, and in her mother.
2. What kind of person could they become in the future? What are some developmental paths that they could take: best, worst, most likely? Sharon’s a caring person deep down and with a positive influence, along with assistance in overcoming her personal traumas, she could become a better, more compassionate person. It wouldn’t take more than a few good friends and influences for her to become more open, to let go of the hate and pain.
However, she could just as easily fall into the darker aspects of her personality, the parts of her that developed after years in Silent Hill’s Otherworld; things like vengeance and brutality and apathy to the pain of others. But, most likely, Sharon will grow out of her shell that she’s built up, become more caring while maintaining a certain distance from others, still dealing with her pain on her own.
3. How do they behave within a group? What role(s) do they take? Does this differ if they know and trust the group, versus finding themselves in a group of strangers? Why? As Alessa Gillespie, she grew up ostracized and bullied, constantly left out by both the children and the adults in her life. As Sharon da Silva, she grew up having to put as much distance between herself and others, having to lie about who she was and where she came from. She's not used to being involved with a group because she's never really had the option.
She’s not at her best in a group, too used to lone wolfing it, though that doesn’t mean she won’t put in the effort, she just won’t ever take on the role of a leader and would likely stick to observation unless she disagreed. In a group of those she trusts, on the other hand, Sharon would end up being much more vocal and willing to bring ideas to the table.
4. What do they need and want out of relationships, and how do they go about getting it? The only thing Sharon truly needs is the reciprocation of her love, with a preference for familial love over any other. Because of this, she's fiercely loyal to those she loves and is willing to sacrifice everything to protect them. She’s physically affectionate with those she loves and trust and that’s often how she shows her love, whether it’s a hug or a kiss on the cheek or just looping her arm around theirs.
5. How do they understand the world–what kind of worldview and thought processes do they have? Why? Sharon's understanding and view of the world is dark and deeply troubled. She has little trust in others and though she desires things like companionship, she often falls back on the tried and true safety of distance. Between Alessa's traumas prior to her burning (ostracization, belittlement, abuse) to Sharon's experiences having to spend her teenage life with only her father as a friend and the necessity of distance, it's no wonder she doesn't have a positive view of the world or the people that inhabit it.
6. How much do they rely on their minds and intellect, versus other approaches like relying on instinct, intuition, faith, and spirituality, or emotions? As much as Sharon would like to think she's ruled by her mind and things like logic, Sharon is wholly dominated by her emotions, gut instincts, and intuition. She works hard not to react emotionally, to think things through, but even when she does, it eventually overwhelms her.
For example, several times throughout the second film, Sharon witnesses absolute horrors as she just goes about her day, ranging everything from a homeless man with no face to a bunch of kids at a birthday party in the mall turn into monstrous creatures. She fights through these hallucinations until she's finally caught completely off guard.
Her gut instinct and intuition work in tandem and she's keen on trusting them. She's immediately wary of Douglas Cartland and only sees him once more before she alerts her dad. Though, even those can be ignored when she's under a great deal of emotional turmoil. She'd initially been wary of Vincent but after being physically attacked and told her life is a lie, she easily fell for his kindness and lies (though it helped immensely that Vincent wasn't a bad person, just misguided and manipulated). And then there's her interaction with Leonard, Vincent's grandfather. It was evident she mistrusted him, her gun remaining aimed at him the whole time in spite of the fact he was both blind and chained to the wall, aware enough he was dangerous even though she needed his help.
7. What is something others might find intolerable about them? Sharon can be rather blunt and forward and can say things without fully thinking them through. This often means she can come off as rude without truly meaning to.
